What these numbers can and cannot tell you
This is a mirror, not a judge. It counts the things a reader feels without naming: sentence length, second-person address, hedges (“maybe”, “just”, “a bit”), exclamation marks and questions. A short, direct voice scores differently from a warm, chatty one and neither is wrong — the point is to notice when a batch of copy drifts away from the voice you meant to use.
The “you” ratio
Copy that talks about the reader outperforms copy that talks about the writer. If “we” and “our” outnumber “you” and “your”, the description is describing your process rather than the reader’s outcome. One rewrite pass fixes it: every “we made this” becomes “you get this”.
Hedging quietly kills calls to action
Words like “just”, “maybe”, “perhaps” and “I think” soften a sentence into a suggestion. A call to action needs to be an instruction. If the hedge count is high, delete them and read it again — the sentence almost always gets stronger and shorter.
Where to go next
If the numbers say the voice drifted, Title Rewriter reworks a headline in six tones and Headline Lab gives you the raw angles to compare against.
How to use Brand Voice Checker
- Paste a handful of descriptions you have already published.
- Read the signals — not a grade, a description.
- Fix the one metric furthest from how you want to sound.
Brand Voice Checker FAQ
Is this an AI writing score?
No. It is deterministic counting of measurable signals in your text — sentence length, pronouns, hedges, punctuation. Nothing is generated and nothing leaves the browser.
How much text do I need?
At least 200 words for the averages to mean anything. A single 30-word description will produce numbers that swing wildly.
What is a good score?
There is no good score. Read the panel as a description of your voice and compare it with how you want to sound.
