Markdown to Plain Text
Pinterest description fields do not render markdown. Paste your draft and get clean plain text with the structure kept — bullets, spacing and links — and the syntax gone.
Input
Runs in your browserHeadings become plain lines, links become “label (url)”, emphasis is removed.
Result
Paste markdown to convert it.
Why pasting markdown goes wrong
A description written in a notes app arrives with asterisks, hashes and bracket-link syntax intact. Pinterest shows them literally, which reads as broken text and wastes characters that count against the limit.
What survives the conversion
Line breaks and bullet structure are kept because they are meaningful. Headings become their text on its own line. Links become “label (url)” so the destination is still readable when it cannot be clicked. Emphasis markers are removed because the target field cannot render them.
Then trim to the field limit
Plain text is usually shorter than the markdown it came from, but a long draft is still long. Convert first, then cut to the 500-character description limit — the same text is also what you paste into a blog excerpt.
Where to go next
Once the syntax is gone, Copy Cleaner removes stray spacing and Description & Hashtags adds the tags.
How to use Markdown to Plain Text
- Paste your markdown draft.
- Check the bullets and links survived.
- Copy the plain text into Pinterest or your CMS.
Markdown to Plain Text FAQ
Does it handle tables?
Tables are flattened into one line per row with pipes replaced by dashes. Pinterest has no table support, so a flat list is the honest output.
What about images in the markdown?
Image syntax is dropped and only the alt text is kept, since a description field cannot display an image.
Will the line breaks survive Pinterest?
Yes. Pinterest keeps line breaks in descriptions, which is why the bullet structure is worth preserving.
