URL Slug Generator
A slug is the part of the URL people read and remember. Turn a working headline into a short, lowercase, hyphenated path that survives being pasted into a chat.

Enter a headline to get a slug.
Short slugs are easier to share
A slug is read aloud, typed by hand and pasted into messages. Four or five words is the sweet spot: enough to describe the page, short enough that the URL stays on one line. Numbers at the start (“12-…”) are fine and often improve click-through.
Never change a live slug
A published URL is a promise. Changing it breaks every pin, bookmark and backlink pointing at it unless you add a redirect, and redirects cost a little of the signal each time they are followed. Decide the slug before you publish.
What gets stripped
Stop words (“the”, “for”, “and”), punctuation, accents and emoji. Accented characters are transliterated rather than dropped so “café” becomes “cafe” instead of disappearing from the URL.

URL Slug Generator FAQ
Should the slug match the title exactly?
No. The title is written for a human scanning a feed; the slug is written for a URL bar. Drop the filler and keep the topic.
Hyphens or underscores?
Hyphens. They are treated as spaces by search engines; underscores are not.
Can I include the year?
Only if the page is genuinely annual. Otherwise it dates the page and invites a slug change later.
